SUMMARY:Play your way to a stronger brain
DESCRIPTION:Maintaining brain health is typically seen as work or medicine. However\, the best medicine for the brain can be play. Games that adapt to you through analyzing how you play and measuring your brain activity can simultaneously train skills and ease stress. The science of gameplay for brain health in both emotion and cognition is rapidly advancing. This talk will share the why and how of games for brain health across the lifespan. \nJulia A. Scott\, PhD is director of the Brain and Memory Care Lab at Santa Clara University. Her lab explores the use of immersive and wearable technologies for healthcare applications. These technologies are applied to design of novel solutions for dementia care and mental health. Her team also develops neuromodulation prototypes for closed-loop systems. As a senior advisor for XRSI medical council\, she works toward data privacy and user safety standards for immersive healthcare. She co-founded Gambit Labs to develop biofeedback\, game-based interventions for ADHD. She advises several immersive technology companies in their research practices and serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit Content for Good.
