Jorja Leap is a UCLA professor and policy advisor on Gangs and Youth Violence for Los Angeles County and the National Institute of JusticeI. She will share her experiences in over 20 years following gangs, working with former gang members and doing research on their interaction with law enforcement. Beginning with a brief overview of the traditional relationships between these groups, she will talk about how this relationship has evolved—with these wildly disparate groups coming together to create a new model of community safety.
