Behind the scenes at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Janet Abrams is Director of the Public Management Program at Stanford Business School. She earned her MBA there in 1987. In her role with the Public Management Program, she administers an academic certificate offering and an array of extracurricular activities for students interested in government and the nonprofit sector and how industry deals with complex public issues.

Janet brings to her work with students and faculty a broad career in government & politics—with prior positions in the White House, on Capitol Hill, with the State of Georgia & on two Presidential campaigns—the nonprofit/academic world—having worked for the Council on Competitiveness, Emory University & Eno Transportation Foundation—and business—with past roles at McKinsey & Company, the Corporate Executive Board, and ABC Radio Networks.

Janet was selected to be a White House Fellow in the mid-1990s and went on to chair the White House Fellows Association and Foundation. A native of Atlanta, GA, she earned her bachelors degree in History, summa cum laude, from Harvard University.

Last June, she left Washington, DC, where she’d lived for two decades, and moved to Palo Alto with her two Pembroke Welsh corgis, Cherry-Pie and Hummer.
