SUMMARY:Tools for keeping peace in a partisan world
DESCRIPTION:Many of us never imagined that conversations with our own families and longtime friends could become this hard—but here we are\, trying to stay connected in a deeply divided time. For women who have spent decades building families\, friendships\, and communities\, it can be especially painful to feel those bonds strained by political differences. If you’ve ever thought\, “I just won’t bring it up”\, or “Let’s change the subject”\, you’re not alone—political conversations have become one of the trickiest parts of modern life. \nDuring this interactive session\, you’ll learn strategies for communicating across differences and fostering “peace in the house” with friends\, family\, and co-workers.  You will learn: \n\nHow to state views freely and fully\, without fear\nHow to treat people who disagree with us with honesty\, dignity and respect\nHow to welcome opportunities to engage those with whom we disagree\n\nAbout our speaker\nEileen Jacobowitz\, a seasoned organizational development consultant\, has spent her career helping leaders lead change and build resilient organizations. She provides a broad range of consulting services to individuals\, teams\, and organizations to help them improve their effectiveness and productivity.  \nFor over 30 years\, Eileen has shared her expertise including meeting facilitation and design\, leadership and team development\, strategic planning. and stakeholder engagement to public sector and non-profit organizations.     \nWith a desire to bridge the partisan divide in our country and her community\, in 2018\, Eileen brought her facilitation skills to Braver Angels. She has served as a volunteer moderator for dozens of Braver Angels workshops designed to create safe spaces to have difficult conversations\, discover shared values\, and build skills for communicating across differences.  \nEileen has a B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of California\, Berkeley and a Master of Public Administration from The George Washington University.
