SUMMARY:Bridging the Cultural Divide: A Focus on Women Who are New to America
DESCRIPTION:Deepika Bajaj\, the founder and CEO of Invincibelle\, will speak on the trends in multiculturalism in the United States and the particular challenges facing women who are trying to succeed in America when “successful”. \nAmerican behavior is at odds with their native culture. She will discuss her own background growing up in India and the ups and downs she faced pursuing a career in her new country. Deepika will also discuss what compelled her to start Invincibelle\, an online community for multicultural women\, and her vision for this community in the future. For anyone who found the movie\, “The Namesake”\, fascinating and moving\, hearing Deepika’s story and vision are a must. \nDeepika Bajaj was born and educated in India\, but began her career in telecommunications and corporate marketing in the United States 10 years ago. New to the American culture and business environment\, she struggled as many immigrants do-especially women from traditional cultures such as India and Asia. She founded the Invincibelle website and portal to provide a safe community for multicultural women to to learn from one another\, share experiences and to help each other find jobs and resources. During the course of her career\, she has served on the boards of such professional organizations as NSHMBA (National Society of Hispanic MBAs) and WIN (Women in Intel). As an MBA student\, Deepika was an active member of the Student Task Force in WICT (Women in Cable & Telecom) and was runner-up in “Meet the CEO”\, a Women For Hire contest. \nDeepika has a B.S. degree in Engineering from Bangalore University\, India. She holds an MBA degree from Fordham University\, New York\, in the field of Marketing. She is an honorary member of Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma.
