From CasaQ to The Farmworker Caravan

April 28, 2022 @ 7:20 am - 9:00 am PDT

Free

The Farmworker Caravan began in April 2020 as a grassroots effort by individuals led by Darlene Tenes to provide emergency supplies to the often-forgotten essential workers during the pandemic. These California farmworkers toiled through heatwaves, wildfires, and COVID-19—with little pay—to keep food on tables across America. Since then, the mighty group of volunteers has helped to feed thousands of families in the agricultural industry in northern California.

Darlene Tenes founded CasaQ, a Hispanic lifestyle company that creates and curates products, events, and travel for people who embrace the Latino culture. She leveraged this expertise to quickly establish and mobilize the Farmworker Caravan during the pandemic.

Since 2003, Ms. Tenes has been a regular contributor on NBC Bay Area and CBS-5 as a Latino Lifestyle expert discussing history, foods and traditions of Mexico, Spain, and other Latin-American countries. She is an eHow food expert and a professional speaker at seminars, conferences, and cruise lines. She serves on many local nonprofit boards and mentors youth at Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall and The Role Model Program.
