Frequently Asked Questions about TMD Membership

How can I become a member?  What are the qualifications for membership?
You must attend two meetings as a speaker or guest and be nominated by two existing members. A proposal for membership will be submitted to the Board of Directors by the Membership Chair on the recommendation of the Membership Committee. New members will be determined by a vote of the Board of Directors who will strive for a balance of members consistent with the purpose and variety of experience and accomplishment described in our bylaws. A majority of the Board of Directors must vote to admit a new member.

May I attend a meeting, even if I am not a member?
Attendance by non-members is by invitation only. Members can register guests in advance. Guests are not invited to Members Only events.

How many meetings can a non-member attend as a guest?
A non-member can attend up to two meetings as a guest.

What is the price of membership?
$84 per calendar year. This includes the regular and community meetings. Membership fees are pro-rated for new members.

If I am unable to attend all the meetings, am I entitled to a refund?
No, the membership fee is a fixed annual fee.

How does the organization govern itself?
The organization is operated by member volunteers. Thursday Morning Dialogue is governed by Bylaws and the Board of Directors who make policy decisions within the bylaws. The organization is also run by committees made up of Board and non-Board members, such as the Speaker Committee that selects our speakers, the Social Committee that plans our semi-annual Socials, and our Membership Committee who works on greeting our members and bringing new members on board. Additionally, we form ad-hoc committees as needed. All members and especially new members are encouraged to volunteer on these committees.

Is Thursday Morning Dialogue a nonprofit?  Are my dues tax-deductible?
Thursday Morning Dialogue is a membership organization that spends its dues on member events and does not seek to make a profit.  However, it is not a registered charitable or non-profit organization. You should consult your professional tax advisor for the tax treatment of your membership.
